Editing with Mr.Heuric

Today was an important day.In the morning, i brought my recorded guitar parts (plus solo) to Mr.Heurich to loop it in order to make a whole song. In the end, we determined that we should record again because guitar parts were off pitch and there was no way to fit those in. However, during the process, we learned a lot of stuff. It was only a period long, but things we covered were invaluable. Before I forget, I'd like to write those down, and Mr.Heurich himself also told me that i should take notes about these.

  • Slicing and Looping. Once a track is done with recording, i can play it like a puzzle. I can cut the section (slice) and copy it, delete it and move it around to fit it with some other part. For example, if the part i want is slightly off beat, I can adjust the timing. Also, I can merge different parts in to one chuck by mixing it down.
  • Compressor function reduces the gap between the max and the min of the sound, so it makes it more uniform. After applying the effect, along with reverb (almost same as echoing effect in a sense), the guitar sounded so much better, like the one in an album.
We decided to record guitar part again tommorow in the morning. Although this might he hard, i don't have enough time and i should try my best since there's no way aruond.
